Well, I live, and someday I may post something interesting about my life(which is doing well despite sullen pre-teens), but today all you get is a pole. I'm getting an i-touch which I can get engraved. what should I get? Ce qu’on ne peut dire et ce qu’on ne peut taire... (That which you cant say, but can't be silenced) -victor hugo you are the music while the music lasts ts eliot A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike John steinbeck Tell me what you'd like to hear me sing. Edith Piaf (Sadly not enough room for the rest of the quote Kendra Rose Agate Song Rouse-Showell (my long and rather ridiculous name, or possibly my parents address) You are being entirely too sentimental. Don't write anything, you'll get more money when you need to hock it. Other. Suggestions please? | | Friday, October 2nd, 2009 | | 8:17 pm |

Linguistics
To text thank you here, you write 3q, that is the number which is pronounced san in Mandarin and the letter Q. So San-Q or thank you. To say your welcome you say noQ, from the literal translation of 不謝, you're welcome (literally no thanks). End result: something that works in neither language. I love when things like this happen. Also, a student today turned dogs into gods. The end result was awesome but I can't remember the sentence. I'm pretty sure they frown on stopping class to write down amusing things students say. | | Sunday, July 19th, 2009 | | 6:11 am |
Taiwan, Blog, Real life. Pictures.
Yesterday I went out to a party for one of my coworkers who is leaving, met a cute Englishman, then found out he was married. Just my luck. But on the other hand, his wife is awesome, and invited me to play tennis so it was still a good evening. It was a very good party. Today, I recovered. I've updated my blog: 羅 可 娟( I'm also posting some post apocalyptic picturesCollapse )These are pictures I took on the beach near my parents house on Whidbey Island, and one from the seattle arboretum. The beach is wonderful for this sort of thing, because it eats away at everything, and even new things look ancient and abandoned. I meant to go up to Fort Casey before I left, and take some pictures there, but I didn't have the time. I guess I'll have to see what I can find here. The jungle looks like it has potential. I'll give it a try as soon as I convince myself it's worth braving the heat. With 95 degree temperatures and 70 percent humidity, who knows when that will happen. | | Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 | | 4:40 am |
Caterpillar
I got stung by an evil (and very fuzzy) caterpillar today. Felt like a bea sting looked like a nettle sting (multiple welts). I fell on me when I was walking through a wooded section at the zoo today and scared me half to death. Because I'm new here, and I'm not used to the animals, I spent a good few minutes wondering exactly how poisonous Taiwanese caterpillars are. But the guidebook doesn't list killer caterpillars as one of the dangers, and my arm doesn't appear to be in any danger of falling off so I'm probably all right. I also saw pandas (Very quickly because there was a line) and a baby formosan brown bear trying to wrestle a tree. | | 4:40 am |

Communication from the Future
I'm starting to adjust to being way too many hours ahead of you guys. But since this means I now know what is happening almost a day ahead of you all, I figured I should probably try to keep you up to date with my knowledge of the future. So I've started a blog. Taiwan
I have my job. I'm leaving in two weeks. More will follow. | | Monday, April 6th, 2009 | | 8:41 am |
Today is far to sunny to do anything useful, but I'll give it a go. Things I've been doing I've signed a contract with a school in Taipei which says that they will give me two weeks notice when they need me. So I, could be leaving in two weeks, I could be leaving in June. I've given notice on the apartment, and, oh the horror, will be moving in with my parents at the end of the month. I've started going to a French language meatup. Probably not the best time to start new things, but I decided if I didn't do something I'd go mad. C'est manifique. It's a large group with lots of Francophones and if you stay till the end all the newbies leave. Last time all that was left was a Corsican, a Marseillan, someone from the Congo, and another American who's lived in France. Topics have ranged from the corsican mafia (who knew?) to NGOs to the usefulness of various forms of arabic. And I can just about keep up. I've started watching buffy season 7 with Jen. So far so Joss weedin who continues to be marvelous. Though, I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to concentrating on how spikes shirt keeps riding up. Those scenes might have been important. Mostly, though, I've been spending as much time as possible outside. Walking obscene distances and running regularly. I've started taking pictures like mad, and, as much as I love my little camera, I've started fantasizing about a really nice one without a delay. I really do not need more expensive hobbies. Got a facebook account. Things I still need to do. Start packing. My parents are wonderful people who are going to help me move, let me store all my stuff in their home and let me crash on their couch until this job comes through. They don't need to help me put stuff in boxes on the day of the move. Sort out my stuff from jen's. This should be interesting. Who owns which season of buffy? Talk to the apartment manager about getting my name off the lease. I will call her today. See people. If I get my act together I'll try to organize a dinner, but I'd still like to just hang out if anyone has time. | | Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 | | 11:11 am |
Announcement
For the last couple months I've been seriously working on getting a job in Taiwan teaching English. I've been working with a recruiting agency out of Taiwan and they've just sent me information about jobs that start at the end of march, early in april. I probably should have announced this sooner but something superstitious in me says that if I tell people it will go away. Everything is happening faster then I anticipated and I'm suddenly looking at much less time to get things together and to see people before I go. I'll keep everyone up on what's going on, and I'd like to see as many people as possible before I disappear. | | Friday, December 5th, 2008 | | 11:24 pm |

Unemployed-Day 2
Here's to day two of being gainfully unemployed. The first day hardly counts because my parents, after discovering that both my sister and I were off work at the same time, this never happens, drove into Seattle to see as both at the same time. We wondered around Seattle. Attempted to go to the Fry art museum, closed. Ate delicious fried chicken from an Oprah approved restaurant in the Central District and visited Seattle's unofficial nude beach. Presumably it is more interesting when it isn't March. We went for coffee, took Gracie to the Belletown Dog park, went to the Market. We probably did other things as well, it was a busy day. Today I'm being unemployed but hopefully productively so. I have an interview tomorrow at a temp agency, thanks Kerry, and I've sent out Resumes. I've also baked bread and gone to the thrift store where I bought The Two Doctors(2 and 6 so we'll see.) So so far so good. And now, my continued attempt at reviews ( Bill Bryson-A Sunburned CountryCollapse )( Samual Chamberlain-Clementine in the KitchenCollapse ) | | Friday, February 22nd, 2008 | | 7:56 am |
